GOM Encoder is a comprehensive video conversion tool that comes from the creators of the excellent GOM Player.
The main interface of GOM Encoder is slick and clearly designed. Just drag and drop a file into the top field, and the source information will be displayed below, next to a box with output (conversion) info. Here you can select one of a ton of ready made profiles. From iPhone to PSP, Zune to Flash - there's pretty much every device and format you might want. You can tweak the settings of any of these profiles, and set up your own custom conversion profiles too.
Conversions themselves in GOM Encoder are impressively quick - it's difficult to complain about speed at all, even when high quality has been selected. This trial version puts a GOM Encoder watermark on the converted video, but at least you can test how good the app is.
GOM Encoder is a comprehensive, fast and effective converter that is sure to fit the needs of any video conversion you need.
Recent changes
- GOM Video Converter now supports Intel Quick Sync Video technology to improve conversion speeds. This option can be turned on via the Configurations window (“Codec” tab), and is only available on PCs that support Intel Quick Sync Video
- Improved the “Gretech MPEG Source Filter 2”:
- This source filter has been improved to better support conversions of TS format video files
- Wii Presets Added:
- Added 2 conversion presets designed for use with Nintendo Wii
- WMV Default Conversion Settings Updated:
- Changed the default WMV conversion settings to use the Windows Media Audio 10 Professional codec (previously used the lower-quality Windows Media Audio Voice 9 codec)
- Additional Multi-Conversion options:
- Added 6-core and 8-core processor support to the Multi-Conversion function
- Updated the software EULA
- GOM Picker:
- -Fixed a bug where IE would force quit when visiting a specific page
- -Fixed a bug where GOM Picker settings would be reset after restart
- GOM Report:
- The “GOM Report” application is no longer included with GOM Video Converter
